7/26/2023 0 Comments Yelp ads scam sent to collections![]() First off the first $7200.00+ in”convenient” monthly payments goes to the attorney firm. They told me to stop making payments and that they would contact all of my creditors and I wouldn’t get any collection calls but if I did to call this company and they would take care of it. 1) the guy on the phone was so nice and helpful in getting the process started. If Credit Associates had the correspondence sent to their organization, and they communicated on your behalf with the creditors, that would be one thing, but to simply block all communication with them is just bad business. My advice, if you decide to work with Credit Associates, is to tell them at the beginning to not send cease and desist letters to creditors, so you can know what is going on with them and possibly prevent lawsuits. They negotiated lower payment amounts for 6 accounts, and I had to make agreements to pay the final 3 accounts due to the law suits. They negotiated several of my accounts for much less than half of what I owed. I would say that Credit Associates helped me and did save me money. I am still on a payment plan with one of the creditors, which will end in November of 2022 (this year). I wound up having to pay those debts in full. I was not aware that I was being sued until I got notice from the court on two of them, and until after a judgement was made against me on the third account, because I didn’t receive notice from the court (probably my fault, not paying attention to my mail). They did that because they could not get in touch with me. After about 15 months with Credit Associates, three of my creditors decided to file lawsuits. Couple that with the fact that it can take a long time for them to negotiate each settlement and you can run into trouble. They send out cease and desist letters to all of your creditors. (and this is the kicker that I said to remember for later. I didn’t have too much of a problem with that, as they have to make money, but half feels a bit steep.ģ. They usually take about half of what they save you through each settlement. That in itself is not a problem, however, it does mean it can take a long time for them to settle your total debt obligations. They only negotiate with creditors when there is enough money in your account to pay what they expect to settle for. My experience with them was that their policies had some negative effects. I don’t believe Credit Associates is a scam.
